DESCRIPTION FOR LORTAB PRODUCTS
Treats pain. Lortab contains hydrocodone and acetaminophen.
Hydrocodone which is related to codeine is in a class
of prescription drugs called narcotic analgesics. Lortab
( Hydrocodone ) relieves pain. Acetaminophen is a less
potent pain reliever that increases the effects of hydrocodone.
Together, acetaminophen and hydrocodone ( Lortab ) are
used to relieve moderate-to-severe pain. Lortab may
also be used for purposes other than those listed in
this medication article.

have ever had an allergic reaction to acetaminophen,

HOW TO USE AND STORE LORTAB
Your doctor will tell you how much Lortab to take and
how often. Keep all medicine out of the reach of children.
Tablets/Capsules:
Lortab may be taken with food to lessen stomach upset.
Drink plenty of fluids to help avoid constipation.
Store Lortab at room temperature, away from heat and
moisture.
Lortab Elixir Solution (liquid):
The elixir may be taken with food to lessen stomach
upset.
Carefully measure your elixir dose using a marked measuring
spoon or medicine cup.
Do not freeze lortab elixir. Store elixor at room temperature,
away from heat and moisture.
If you miss a Lortab dose:
Take the missed lortab dose as soon as possible.
Skip the missed dose of lortab if it is almost time
for your next lortab dose.
You should not use two doses of lortab at the same time.
DRUGS AND FOODS TO AVOID WHILE TAKING LORTAB
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other
medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins,
and herbal products.
Do not drink alcohol with loratab.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking any medicines
besides loritab that could make you drowsy such as sedatives,
cold and allergy medicine, sleeping pills, or muscle
relaxants.
WARNINGS
Lortab can be habit forming. It is possible to become
physically and/or psychologically dependent on this
painkiller medication. You should not use more than
the prescribed amount for pain.
Check with your doctor before taking lortab pain pills
if you have liver or kidney disease, an enlarged prostate
gland, or trouble urinating.
Tell your doctor if you have had an allergic reaction
to a narcotic drug such as codeine. The reaction may
have included wheezing or trouble breathing, hives,
rash, or swelling in the face. Codeine can cause an
upset stomach, but an upset stomach is not an allergic
reaction.
If you have taken lortab for several weeks, ask your
doctor before stopping as you may need to take smaller
and smaller amounts of lortab before stopping completely.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor
before taking lortab.
Lortab Elixir liquid contains alcohol.
Lortab can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Be careful
if driving a car or using machinery while taking loratab.
LORTAB SIDE EFFECTS
Call your doctor right away if you have any of these
side effects while taking lortab:
Fast or slow heartbeat
Trouble breathing
Swelling of the face
Hives, skin rash, itching
Hallucinations, changes in behavior
Severe confusion or tiredness
Yellowing of the skin or eyes
If you have problems with these less serious side effects,
tell your doctor.
Drowsiness, dizziness, or weakness
Dry mouth, nausea or vomiting
Constipation
Headache
Blurred vision |
