DESCRIPTION FOR PERCOCET PAIN MEDICATION
Treats moderate to severe pain. Percocet contains Oxycodone
and Acetaminophen. Oxycodone which is related to codeine
is in a class of prescription drugs called narcotic

relieving pain and its calming effect. Acetaminophen
is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects
of oxycodone. Together, acetaminophen and oxycodone

HOW TO USE AND STORE PERCOCET
Your doctor will tell you how much percocet pain medication
to take and how often. Take this pain medication exactly
as prescribed by your doctor. The usual percocet dose
is 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed but doses vary among
individuals. Doctors sometimes prescribe a higher dose
if necessary.
Follow the directions on your percocet prescription
label and ask your pharmacist or doctor about anything
you do not understand. Do not take more percocet than
the doctor prescribed, if the pain is not being sufficiently
treated then speak with your doctor. Do not share percocet
pain medication with anyone else and be sure to keep
these strong painkillers and all other medications out
of the reach of children. You should not use percocet

Take the missed percocet dose as soon as possible. Skip
the missed dose of percocet if it is almost time for
your next dose. You should not use two percocet doses

If you overdose on percocet:
Seek emergency medical attention. Symptoms of a Percocet
overdose include slow breathing, seizures, dizziness,
weakness, loss of consciousness, coma, confusion, tiredness,
cold and clammy skin, small pupils, nausea, vomiting,
and sweating.
DRUGS TO AVOID WHILE TAKING PERCOCET PRESCRIPTION
PAIN MEDICATION
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other
medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins,
and herbal products while taking percocet painkillers.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are taking any other
medications that could make you drowsy such as sedatives,
cold and allergy medicine, sleeping pills, tranquilizers,
or muscle relaxants. The most serious interactions affecting
Percocet are with drugs that also cause sedation.
The following drugs may lead to dangerous sedation if
taken with Percocet: brompheniramine (Dimetane, Bromfed,
etc), diphenhydramine (Benadryl, Nytol, Compoz, etc),
chlorpheniramine (Chlor-Trimeton, Teldrin, etc), amitriptyline
(Elavil), doxepin (Sinequan), fluoxetine (Prozac), sertraline
(Zoloft), paroxetine (Paxil), amoxapine (Asendin), clomipramine
(Anafranil), desipramine (Norpramin), imipramine (Tofranil),
nortriptyline (Pamelor), protriptyline (Vivactil), belladonna
(Donnatal), clidinium (Quarzan), dicyclomine (Bentyl,
Antispas), hyoscyamine (Levsin, Anaspaz), ipratropium
(Atrovent), propantheline (Pro-Banthine), scopolamine
(Transderm-Scop), chlorpromazine (Thorazine), fluphenazine
(Prolixin), thioridazine (Mellaril), prochlorperazine
(Compazine), phenobarbital (Solfoton, Luminal), amobarbital
(Amytal), secobarbital (Seconal), alprazolam (Xanax),
diazepam (Valium), lorazepam (Ativan), flurazepam (ProSom),
and temazepam (Restoril).
If you are taking any of the medicines, you may not
be able to take Percocet pain medication or you may
require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during
treatment. Also, watch the acetaminophen content of
other over-the-counter and prescription medicines while
taking percocet painkillers. Do not take more than 4
grams (4000 milligrams) of acetaminophen per day. Drugs
other than those listed here may also interact with
Percocet so be sure to talk to your doctor and pharmacist
before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines.
PERCOCET WARNINGS
Before taking Percocet, tell your doctor if you have:
kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, urinary retention,
an enlarged prostate, hypothyroidism, seizures or epilepsy,
gallbladder disease; a head injury, Addison's disease
or a history of alcohol or drug addiction. If you have
any of the above conditions, you may not be able to
take Percocet pain medication or you may require a dosage
adjustment or special monitoring during treatment.
Percocet may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Use caution
when driving or operating machinery while taking percocet.
If you experience drowsiness or dizziness, avoid these
and other hazardous activities.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Percocet pain meds.
Alcohol can add to the drowsiness and dizziness caused
by Percocet medication.
Percocet pain pills are in the FDA pregnancy category
C. This means that it is not known whether it will harm
an unborn baby. If you are pregnant, do not take percocet
pain medication without first talking to your doctor.
It is not known whether the pain drug percocet passes
into breast milk so if you are breast feeding a baby
do not take percocet tablets without first talking to
your doctor.
If you are younger than 18 years of age or older than
60 years of age, you may be more likely to experience
side effects from percocet therapy. Use extra caution.
PERCOCET SIDE EFFECTS
If you experience any of the following serious side
effects, stop taking Percocet and notify your doctor
immediately or seek emergency medical attention:
Allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of
your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face;
or hives);
Slow, weak breathing;
Seizures;
Cold, clammy skin;
Severe weakness or dizziness;
Unconsciousness;
Yellowing of the skin or eyes;
Unusual fatigue, bleeding, or bruising
If you have problems with these less serious percocet
side effects, tell your doctor:
Constipation, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, decreased
appetite, dizziness, tiredness, lightheadedness, muscle
twitches, sweating, itching, decreased urination, or
decreased sex drive
